Rutgers School of Nursing invites applications for a passionate, inspiring and collaborative faculty member to teach in our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. The successful candidate will role model high standards of clinical practice, teaching excellence, and scholarship, and actively participate in professional organizations. 


The position is primarily in the graduate program and based in Newark, NJ. The candidate may teach courses across the curriculum and campuses. Courses may include Theoretical Foundations of Psychotherapy, Biopsychosocial Assessment and Differential Diagnosis in Advanced Practice Nursing, Principles of Psychopharmacology, and graduate Theory and Practicum courses in Adult and Older Adult and the Family and Child and Adolescent and the Family. Most importantly, the School of Nursing is excited to welcome expertise in specialty areas including (but not limited to) health equity, substance use disorders, veteran health care, LGBTQ+ health, and psychological trauma and treatment, including that among nurses.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 

  • Envision and teach didactic and clinical courses.
  • Chair DNP student projects.
  • Collaborate with clinical and community partners to identify and develop clinical placements and DNP project sites.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (may be part of teaching workload).
  • Participate on school of nursing committees including general faculty and advanced practice committees and faculty governance.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in higher education (preferably at the graduate level).
  • A successful track record of scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations, grant funding).
  • Active participation in community and/or professional organizations.


Certifications/Licenses:

  • Current licensure or eligibility for RN and Advanced Practice Nurse licensure in New Jersey (with prescriptive privileges).
  • National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
